APSHA
By Haitians, For Haiti
How it all started:
APSHA—Action Pour Sauver Haiti—was born in 2017 after Hurricane Matthew devastated rural Jeannette. Founded by longtime local leaders with decades of experience in education, agriculture, and governance, APSHA transforms short-term aid into long-term sustainability.

APSHA Model:
01
Community-led Planning
02
Programs with sustainability and autonomy requirements
03
Transparent accounting—every gourde tracked
04
Empowering all community members equally
Our Beliefs:
Sustainable development is holistic. True change requires balancing economic stability, environmental integrity, and social equity—each equally essential.
Relationships matter most. No program succeeds without mutual respect, transparency, and accountability between communities and donors.
Local leadership creates lasting impact. Every program is led and implemented by Haitian experts who know their land, their people, and their needs best.
Everyone has a role to play. Projects are designed so that each person who receives also gives back, building dignity, self-respect, and resilience.
Partnerships heal. When communities and donors work together—as APSHA and the Diocese of Wisconsin are doing today—they can avoid imbalances and co-create a better future.
How This Belief Becomes Impact:
01
Strengthening Local Economies
Farm co-ops and livestock programs improve food security.
Women’s groups and financial education expand opportunity.
Teacher training invests in the next generation.
02
Rebalancing Power
Civil infrastructure gives every participant a voice.
Relationships shift from dependency to partnership.
Transforming Lives
Families move from subsistence to self-reliance.
Restored land brings new harvests.
Communities experience prosperity rooted in dignity and trust.
